Sanchez is one of three students in Rhode Island, out of more than 13,000 participants, to win this prestigious scholarship. The FastTrack initiative, launched as a part of the Governors Cyber Skills Program, is a three-stage program with hundreds of increasingly difficult cybersecurity challenges modeled after real-world threat scenarios. The first two phases of the program ran during April-August, with only the highest scoring students advancing on. The last phase of the program ends on September 16 – high-performing students in this phase will win additional scholarship funds.
“This program helped me sharpen my cyber skills considerably, I was able to think more analytically and outside of the box. At the same time, I was able to explore cybersecurity tools that can help me protect a network environment and understand how malicious actors operate.”
Andy Robinson, Managed Services Leader at Envision, commented on Sanchez’s achievement: “We’re extremely proud of Wilkin for advancing to the final stage of this program. He truly excelled in these challenges – it’s a testament to his passion for learning and dedication to the cybersecurity field. We’re very lucky to have him as a part of our Ground Control team.”
